The Sanctuary is surrounded by coastline and has various bays where there is always a great selection of swimming areas that are sheltered and have barbecues and grassed areas with shade. Complimenting this aquatic paradise there is abundant fishing and boating. Dolphin watch tours are in the area and you can even swim with the dolphins. Pelicans are a delight to watch in this natural playground. Snorkeling, diving, sky diving, jet ski hire are all there for your enjoyment.

Garden Island is directly out front once you stroll around the corner, from there it’s a 10 minute walk to the Yacht club and café/restaurants that are situated on the front offering spectacular views of the Indian Ocean and marine life.
Penguin Island is just 5 mins by car and is a unique eco experience. On low tide in the morning this island is actually accessible by walking over the sandbar. You can see penguins here especially in the middle of winter.
Mangles Bay is to the left of the new Palm Beach jetty and is a 15 minute walk and well worth the effort, marine wildlife such as dolphins, pelicans and sometimes seals can be seen, let alone viewing some spectacular sunsets.
Rottenest Island is 30 minute ferry ride and is famous for its natural beauty and some of the most amazing snorkeling and diving are popular with visitors, not to mention the quokkas that inhabit the island, well worth a day trip.
Other attractions within short driving distance North of Rockingham is the historic Port City of Fremantle and markets and quaint architecture. Further along is Perth which offers many types of entertainment. Kings Park is a magical botanical garden that overlooks the city and the tranquil waterways of the Swan river and is worth seeing. Many cruises operate from Perth visiting the surrounding areas and the majestic Swan Valley and wineries. North of Perth is Hillary’s Harbour which offers wonderful cafes and shopping spread out on a pontoon over the water and also has the Aquatic Centre which has a fabulous display of marine life. Wildlife parks, wineries and picturesque natural forests only a few hours away to the South West if you have time up your sleeve.
